West Jessamine Wrestling Highlights

West Jessamine High School- It was the first time in team history that over 30 students participated with the wrestling team for West Jessamine. This year's team was composed of an up and coming group of underclassmen mixed with a few experienced upperclassmen. The team was led by Senior Ethan Branham-Hubbard and Junior Ben Metcalf . The growth of the team was remarkable as many of the newer wrestlers had the opportunity to gain valuable experience and wins throughout the season. - Senior Ryan Lawson battled several injuries to contribute wins to the team, as well as helping to mentor the younger wrestlers in his weight class. It is Ryan’s 7th year of wrestling with Jessamine County. - Senior Ethan Branham Hubbard, placed 5th at the Tates Creek Invitational in only his second year of wrestling. - Alex Yuryeu, 10th Grade, placed 3rd at the Tates Creek Invitational, placed 4th at the Jessamine County Clash - Junior Myles Mitchell joined the team for his first year of wrestling, and had several impressive performances for the year. - Sophomore Dylan Andino-Ramirez, Placed 2nd at JV Regionals, qualified for JV State. - Sophomore Gabe Schlafer, joined the team late in the season and quickly became an exciting wrestler to watch and managed to place 3rd at JV Regionals. - Jacob Simpson, 8th, placed 3rd at Middle School Regional, and is a Middle School State Qualifier, placing 5th at State.
